Fingerprint Recognition
Fingerprint Recognition has long since been the most prolific biometric deployed around the world. It has a number of attributes:
1. Stability - Fingerprints generally do not change, except through injury or purposeful damage
2. Cost effective technology - for any product if it can be made cheaply and works then it will be deployed quickly and easily over time, in the case of fingerprint scanners, they are now very cheap to make and the software is at a very mature state of development
3. Simple measurement - not to trivialise the technology at all, but because of 1. above, the development of fingerprint recognition applications and fingerprint scanners has been significantly easier than other biometrics, such as face, iris, vein, etc.
